Does anyone know if any of the boards sponsors (or anyone else if none of the board's sponsors do this) lease/rent out EX-1's on a little longer term basis? My situation is that
I am in a remote location in Alaska and as far as I know, the closest rental location would be close to 1000 miles away and shipping/mail takes about 2 days longer to get here than most places....even Fed Ex won't honor their normal guarantees here....understandably I suppose. Anyways, renting for couple days is hard because of shipping, and the project I will
be working on will be a bit longer term anyways...somewhere from 2 weeks to a month or so. Of course at some point it just becomes cheaper to buy, the client wanted to know if
anyone does longer term rentals or something similar.

I can poke around for you, but I know a friend who works for sprocket heads in anchorage who says thats all they do is rent gear from the lower 48. I bet there is a rental house in seattle that does this on a regular basis for AK.
I will see what I can dig up.

edit,

forgot to add, if this shoot is taking a month, it seems like it would make way more sense to buy, but thats just me.

Ian has a good idea--buy the camera for the shoot, then sell it when you're done. As long as you take excellent care it, you'll come out ahead on the other end.

I'd have to agree with Jay.

Rental day rates are generally set at about 5% of the actual value of the equipment. If you're renting more than 20 days it makes a lot more sense to buy, keep it in excellent condition, then sell.
