This seems like a step in the wrong direction for those whom would like to use these cameras for HD video...

Has CASIO announced plans for the EX-F1, upgrade? possibly discontinue it?

Sometimes companies give and then take away, any thoughts?

This is just my thoughts and not info directly from casio, just compiled info and
speculations.

The problem with Ex-F1 is that it's really expensive to produce.
Similar to the problem Sony is facing with the PS3.

I believe that Casio is trying to sell simpler, less costly, cameras to get some money back.
Using the flagship to prove the concept and then sell the bulk at a profit.

They have developed a custom LSI with ARM. I have a nagging feeling that the power needed to process all data is really high. They might be waiting for a few innovations like fuelcells to be able to power a high-end all inclusive HD camcorder/camera.

Casio might have problems with the pricing to reach the intended target group if they went all in with a high-end product.

But I do hope that Casio do make a 9-12MP fullHD with higher resolution high speed camera.

And that you can set the high speed from 30-1200 in small steps with the resolution decreasing in steps as well. Starting with 1280x720P.
