Is there a way to get the data code (time stamp) from a miniDV/HDV file after it is captured by Vegas? I hate having to view the video on the camera, and writing down all the dates, and then renaming the files.

Haven't tried it, but found these:

DVMP Basic - view datacode/datecode, timecode, date/time, and exposure details in DV AVI files (http://www.dvmp.co.uk/dv-media-player.htm)

I think it's DV only, but not sure.

Also this:

Homepage of DVdate (http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm)

I looked in the past for something similar for HDV, but was unsuccessful. Seems strange, cause there's a lot of great info in the data code. I've often wished I could see it after capture.

DVMP Basic is DV only, but the new version of DVMP Pro will display recording date and time, timecode and camera exposure details for HDV m2t files aswell.

DVMP Pro 3 - view and edit date/time stamp, datacode/datecode, timecode, and camera exposure details in HDV and DV AVI files (http://www.dvmp.co.uk)

Colin, thanks for the heads up on DVMP Pro.
$40 is a decent price for what it'll do.
