Nigel Moore May 17th, 2003, 08:58 AM I went to the Panasonic web site. My intent was to find the web page that described the AG-DV1000 and post it here to help sell the item. Sadly, it's not there.http://www.panasonic.co.jp/bsd/sales_o/dvworld/html/ag-dv1000.html
Looks like it's NTSC only though. A shame, since I could go for a PAL miniDV deck.
Charles Papert May 17th, 2003, 01:21 PM OK, this seems really silly to me, but maybe not.
I have an Apple ColorSync monitor (19", I think??) that was used as a working prop on the set of the movie "Office Space". After the show wrapped, I bought it off the prop department for a good price (standard procedure), and have used it for the last 5 years. It just started crapping out on me, the picture intermittently shrinking and spazzing out, although sometimes it is fine. I assume it's a loose board or dirt in something somewhere. It just seemed like time to move on and get a new monitor, and I was trying to figure out how to dispose of the thing, when a friend told me "jeez, that was on Office Space? Do you know how many fans of that movie would probably jump all over it, regardless of condition??"
Well, OK, how many? I'll probably put it up on eBay at some point, but in case there's anyone here who wants it, I'll entertain offers! I think with some servicing it should be OK, I just don't really want to deal with it, but the tube is fine when it isn't spazzing.
And yes, it was in the movie. We used it for shooting close-ups of the screen for the computer procedures like Peter trying to shut down the computer before Lumbergh finds him, or when he is inserting the virus into the system. We shot "inside the bevel", i.e. just the screen itself, so it's not like you would recognize the monitor in the movie.
Again, I feel sort of sheepish, but this just might be a fun item for someone out there, I know the movie has attracted a big cult following!
Craig Kirk May 17th, 2003, 01:38 PM Hello everyone. I'm looking to add a Pd 150 to my arsenal so if any of you are looking to sell or know someone who is then please let me know. Thanks.
K. Forman May 17th, 2003, 03:11 PM I also have some movie nostalgia, but couldn't part with mine. I have one of the Roman swords from "Ben Hur". When I bought it, I was under the impression that it was Ben Hur's sword, but I watched the movie and he never used one. Still, it's a piece of cinematic history.
If I were you, I would set that Monitor on a desk with a old PC, and place a sign on it stating it's history. A film grab would be nice to add to the display.
Alex Knappenberger May 17th, 2003, 03:14 PM Dude. I'll take it...how much? That movie rocks...
Charles Papert May 17th, 2003, 03:37 PM Name your prices, gang...like I said, it's a weird world and after what I read in this week's Entertainment Weekly about the cult of "Office Space", anything seems possible!!
Alex Knappenberger May 17th, 2003, 03:58 PM I need proof that it is the office space monitor. :D
Charles Papert May 17th, 2003, 07:59 PM Tell you what, Alex: I'll include a picture of me posing with the monitor, then also include pictures of me on set with Jennifer Aniston, Steven Root ("Milton"), and the three young programmer guys, the rest would have to be a character judgement!
Alex Knappenberger May 17th, 2003, 08:02 PM Whoa, are you serious?
Chris Hurd May 17th, 2003, 08:38 PM Alex,
Charles was the Steadicam operator on "Office Space." You can check out all the movies Charles has worked on by viewing his IMDB profile here (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Papert,+Charles). See, I told you this was a high-class discussion forum. Hope this helps!
Charles,
If you don't get any serious bites here, you might offer it over on one of the Office Space fan sites like this one (http://www.bullshitjob.com/officespace/).
Alex Knappenberger May 17th, 2003, 08:48 PM Wow Charles, theres a lot of things in that list that I watch every episode of... Your the steadicam operator on Scrubs, The west wing, and ER? Whew, I like all 3 of them shows, especially scrubs, the intro on that show is pretty crazy, everytime I watch it, i'm like "what the crap, how'd they pull that off so smoothly?" heh :D
Anyway, about the monitor, my pockets aren't very deep right now, and i'm sure theres lots of other people who would pay lots of cash for that puppy.
Zac Stein May 17th, 2003, 09:27 PM Charles, how you got any other chachkah's you are willing to let go of?
Zac
K. Forman May 18th, 2003, 05:36 AM Jeez Charles... Maybe if you tried a little harder, you could have brought home the monitor AND Jennifer Anniston? :)~
Zac Stein May 18th, 2003, 06:52 AM Charles,
I got a question, did you the steadicam shot in the opening when Lumbergh first arrives in his porsche and the plates say "my prsch", because as far as i can see those plates must have really existed out there?
DId you meet the guy who actually owned those plates and had a snicker to yourself about them?
Zac
Joel McGregor May 18th, 2003, 07:45 PM someone make me an offer. must sell,
if you pay 1200 ill pay the shipping anywhere in the US
Charles Papert May 20th, 2003, 01:42 PM I'm pretty sure the art department made up those plates. Many of the shows I have worked on that are shot in LA but supposed to be somewhere else use replica plates that are made of plastic.
Keith, Jennifer had just started dating Brad Pitt and spent all of her spare time on the cel phone with him, sadly, this was just months after she had said in an interview "I'm tired of dating actors, I just want to date a regular guy"...!
Zac, I've realized I do have some other "Office Space" things that I should probably put up on eBay...the wrap party invite was in the form of one of the "Initech" nametags, with Milton's picture on it, plus I think I have an Initech baseball cap around somewhere.
Chris Hurd May 20th, 2003, 01:59 PM Hey Chas, I'll give you a good price on that Initech ball cap by private email.
And if there's any way to get John C. McGinley and/or Ron Livingston to autograph that monitor, then it would definitely have my competitive interest! I'm sure they're both good poker buddies of yours...
Rob Lohman May 20th, 2003, 02:24 PM Now if you had some photos from the American History X shoot....
Charles Papert May 20th, 2003, 02:31 PM Rob, I have a great one of Ed Norton wearing my Steadicam and aiming it at me while I'm pointing his gun at him...! Another fave pic from that shoot has the entire camera department lined up with our jaws on that infamous curb (how brutal was that scene?). The curb had been covered with a rubber face that was painted like concrete to protect the actor's teeth, incidentally. We spent days shooting that scene. I know people who won't even watch the movie after having that part described to them! I wish I had a website (so embarassing) so I can post them for you guys.
Chris Hurd May 20th, 2003, 02:36 PM << wish I had a website so I can post them for you guys. >>
A slice of dvinfo is always at your dispoal, Chas... email 'em to me and I'll be glad to host them for you.
Rob Lohman May 20th, 2003, 02:36 PM Now this is the stuff I want to hear! A rubber face on the curb
(ofcourse, why didn't I think of that?).... That scene was very
brutal indeed. One of the most brutal I have ever seen (not
really in what you see, but more in how inhumane it is.... brrr)
Zac Stein May 20th, 2003, 08:14 PM Ohh i would LOVE the baseball cap Charles...
MY mind is swimming at the thought of walking around with that and see who gets it.
Heheheh
Zac
Alex Knappenberger May 20th, 2003, 08:29 PM Charles, you don't have a personal website? Why would it be embarrasing? You have accomplished enough (plus more) to have your own personal website. If your not all that great with web design and all that, i'd be happy to put something together for you, although i'm sure you could easally get a REAL professional to do you one. :D
John Locke May 20th, 2003, 09:13 PM Charles,
Now you've done it...you've gotta post the picture of you guys with your jaws on the curb.
Charles Papert May 20th, 2003, 09:52 PM The embarassing part is not having the website already. haven't really had much of a need for it but it would come in useful. I have the designer lined up but no time at present to assemble--thanks anyway, Alex!
Cosmin Rotaru May 21st, 2003, 08:23 AM So, when do we get to see the pics?!
when?!
WHEN?!
:-)
Charles Papert May 21st, 2003, 11:24 AM I'll try, gents, but I only have a few days before leaving for a long job so my "playtime" is limited--
Chris Hurd May 21st, 2003, 11:45 AM No rush Charles, after you get back is fine.
Craig Kirk May 22nd, 2003, 02:38 AM I caan't beleive no one has or knows anyone selling their PD 150. Too bad for me:o(
Zac Stein May 22nd, 2003, 03:35 AM I am selling a pal one if u r interested but it would be quite a bit more expensive than a ntsc one.
Zac
Frank Granovski May 22nd, 2003, 03:47 AM Craig, you could check the Buy&Sell and The Vancouver Sun, from time to time.

Dany Nativel May 24th, 2003, 10:18 PM This card is still usefull when it comes to have a second configuration that is not powered by a 2GHz+ processor.
So if you have an old Pentium/AMD 500MHz, you can convert it to a video edition station running Premiere 5/6 and get full screen previsualisation either on the PC's monitor (overlay) or on an external TV monitor. Not to mention the excellent DV codec from Canopus.
Some technical info:
http://www.detools.com/shop/cnp/dvraptor.html
NB: it's is now possible to capture the analog in (webcam application for example).
The card comes with the original box, cables, documentation and CD-ROM.
Shipping : $9
Thanks
Dany / dany@natzo.com
K. Forman May 25th, 2003, 05:25 AM Dany- Does it come with the jog/shuttle listed on the site?
Dany Nativel May 25th, 2003, 09:29 AM On the site it says "Hardware shuttle and jog (with Microsoft Intellimouse)" so I think they meant you can use any wheel mouse to perform this function.
Dany
Aaron Rosen May 26th, 2003, 02:47 AM I would also be interested in buying some if avail.
Chris Ferrer May 26th, 2003, 07:36 AM I have a spare new Samson UHF 32 channel setup with a Sony ECM44 lav, I have taken the unit out of its original packaging but it has never been used on location. It is about a year old and as I said, no use on it. I do primarily high-end weddings and pipe my Samson through a Sound Devices Mix-pre into a DAT recorder. The audio I get is absolutley amazing! It is a diversity receiver and the current unit I am using has worked flawlessly ever since I got it, no dropped audio at all, sounds like its hard-wired. I have just not used this spare one yet. I will probably need it after I sell it...
I paid $550 from Zotz about a year ago but I think they have come down a few $$$ since then. B&H has them for $489 now. It is the UM32L44 Camera Mountable UHF Diversity Lavalier 32 Channel System with M32 Receiver, T32 Transmitter and Sony ECM-44 Microphone.
I would be willing to part with it for $375 +shipping
Chris
Roze Ann May 26th, 2003, 07:51 AM Hey Chris,
If the fellas (above posts) pass on your mic set up I'm very interested. I live in Apex, NC and could come pick it up. Please email me at: fatcatmedia.biz or ezor7@yahoo.com
Hope you are having a safe weekend! R
Chris Ferrer May 26th, 2003, 07:55 AM I have a nice Cavision rigid shade matte box with 2 filter stages, one rotatable, one fixed. It is the 4x4 version complete with carbon fiber support rods and machined aluminum mounting plate. The unit has been revised since Cavision's pictured on thier website, the unit no longer has that long adapter tube, it is a shallow step-up ring that they use now. It makes your XL1 look a lot more serious, I get a lot of comments when I have it on.
When I received the unit, I had realized that they used rather cheap hardware since I snapped a screw off when assembling the unit. So I went out and replaced all the hardware with higher grade screws and washers. I also had my local machine shop mill out a small section of the mounting base plate so I could utilize more of the available mounting screw holes. As if stands, when you attempt to set this unit up for the XL1, you have to slide the support rods over to the left side, enough so that only 2 of the 4 mounting holes were showing. I saw this and wanted to make the unit as strong as possible, so I had my machine shop remove just enough aluminum out of the base plate to fit a 3rd screw in there, they did a professional job too!
This unit has no use on the filter stages, I have used it as a sun shade for 4 weddings and now that I am the owner of 2 lenses for my XL1, I have to keep removing this everytime I need to switch to wide angle. so... I think I may part with it and use the $$$ for something else I could use more.
It is in new condition and less than a year old, comes with the french flag, extremely strudy unit, especially now that I have made some modifications to it. (I was an airframe and powerplant technician for several years so everything I own has to be mechanically perfect!)
I can send a pic if anyone if interested. $400 +shipping
Chris
Chris Ferrer May 26th, 2003, 08:05 AM sounds good Roze Ann! I just send you an em with my contact info. if they arent interested.

Roze Ann May 26th, 2003, 08:43 AM Thanks Chris! I just posted my Pinnacle DC30 Pro package up for sale to help pay for this.
