Dylan Couper April 24th, 2003, 10:09 AM I didn't say it is way better. I said it was "way better bang for the buck". Big difference.
For the serious shooter who is really only interested in the manual functions, both lenses are excellent, as Ken states in his article. However after taxes, the 14x will leave you with an extra $700 or so in your pocket.

Ken Tanaka April 25th, 2003, 04:25 PM James,
Just to make sure that your request is precise, you're looking for an XL1/XL1s COLOR (LCD, FU-500) viewfinder, not a b&w (FU-1000) viewfinder, right?
James Clarke April 25th, 2003, 04:50 PM Yes ken I looking for the Colour view finder not the B&W one

Andrew Petrie April 25th, 2003, 07:43 PM <<<-- Originally posted by Alex Knappenberger : What are you attempting to mod? -->>>
My guess would be installing a larger colour LCD, with the potential of offering a mod service, or self-installation kit.
James Clarke April 26th, 2003, 09:45 AM A friend of mine showed me an FU-500 view finder on his Xl1s that is fitted with a larger TFT screen made by casio and it looks great I am attempting to do the same but dont want to take any chances with my good VF so I am looking for and old one.
If my mod works I would be happy to pass on the info on to anyone thats interested.

Ron Johnson April 26th, 2003, 12:55 PM This lens is available new for $180 + S/H.
Have you considered negotiating the price?
Thanks,
Ron J.
Ryan Krga April 27th, 2003, 12:29 PM I am sorry, I bought it directly from Canon so it was $240 + S/H.
I am now willing to lower the price to $150. (including shipping)
My mistake.

Ken Tanaka April 28th, 2003, 10:49 AM FWIW, this is an excellent miniDV deck. It's lightweight and very compact. I've used one for over 2 years and never had a glitch with my nle.
For those of you considering buying an inexpensive camera to use as a deck, Ed's giving you a heck of a chance here to upgrade your capabilities and still stay within your budget!

Christopher Go April 28th, 2003, 08:51 PM I completely agree! This is a great deal, I paid close to $1100 for mine. I think you could get $700 easily on eBay should no one want to buy it here so if I was in the market I'd definitely jump on this one.
Mike Murray April 29th, 2003, 09:51 PM In August of 2002 I purchased a VX2000. Recently I decided I needed some of the additional features of the PD150 and purchased one.
My VX2000 is in PERFECT condition and I still have all of the original documentation, box and packing material.
I wouldn't mind keeping it as a second camera, but if someone is interested in giving me a fair value I would be willing to part with it.
I am located in Fort Worth, TX. Email mike@datalinknet.net if interested.
Christopher Go April 30th, 2003, 04:42 AM Mike, I apologize for not emailing but I wanted to know: about how much are you willing to let it go for?
Mike Murray April 30th, 2003, 09:22 AM A quick search of recently completed items for USED VX2000's shows an average selling price of $2150.00. I would probably be willing to accept that for it. Again I must stress this Camera is in perfect condition. No scratches, etc. Only about 15 hours of continuous use. Includes all orginal box, manuals, packing materials, etc.
Guest April 30th, 2003, 09:45 AM JVC BM-H1900SU 19" Production Monitor in as new condition. All specs can be found at:

Ed Fiebke April 30th, 2003, 03:02 PM I went to the Panasonic web site. My intent was to find the web page that described the AG-DV1000 and post it here to help sell the item. Sadly, it's not there.
I also went to the B & H Photo-Video web site. They don't seem to be promoting this device as well.
This is a rock solid device which has been used a little over 50 hours, now. I've been using the AG-DV1000 with my PC set-up which includes Sonic Foundry's Vegas 3.0 and 4.0. This device works well with both software programs. From the looks of things, Panasonic doesn't seem to be making the AG-DV1000 anymore. Instead, it looks like Panasonic will be promoting the AG-DV2000 and their new AG-DV 2500. Both items are great. However, both of these items are well over $1,000.00 (U. S. dollars).
I'm still asking for $700 or best offer for the AG-DV1000.
(Oh yea, the AG-7350 SVHS editing VCR is still for sell too. But that's on another thread. . . )
If you want more information on any of these two devices, please email me. If you would like to talk over the phone, again, email me and I'll email back my phone number. . . and I'll be more than happy to answer any questions.
Regards,
Ted

Bob Benkosky April 30th, 2003, 11:48 PM you want a 3ccd camera for $750...... Wow..... Maybe you can get a really old one for that but I doubt anything new.
Ryan Krga May 1st, 2003, 12:04 AM You can look up on the Sony DCR VX 3. It's the only Hi8 3CCD camera. It runs for about 500 - 600 on Ebay. I've never used one, but I'm sure the quality can't be worse than VSH-C. Check it out.
Bob Benkosky May 1st, 2003, 12:05 AM Yea, I figured there must be an analog 3ccd chip camera that you could afford. That's your best bet most likely.
Dylan Couper May 1st, 2003, 12:06 AM If that's your budget, look for a Canon Optura Pi. It's a single chip camera, but apparently one of the best ever made. ANd you should be able to get a used one for $500-ish.
I don't think you will find even a GL1 for less than $1100.
Bob Benkosky May 1st, 2003, 12:10 AM I searched for that Sony Cam and got nothing.
Dylan Couper May 1st, 2003, 12:23 AM I think you are better off with a newer single chip miniDV camera than an older 3 chip analogue camera.
If you consider going analogue, then check out Canon L1 and L2 cameras. I believe they were 3 chip Hi-8 cameras, with interchangable lenses, as an alternative to a Sony VX3.
Bob Benkosky May 1st, 2003, 12:30 AM I agree about that older Canon L1 and L2. Back inthe day that camera was the shiznit. Ebay has them for CHEAP!!!
I'm not knowledgable about what they improved on the L2 since the L1, but both are on Ebay right now at great prices.
Guest May 1st, 2003, 10:03 AM Hello,

Mike Murray May 4th, 2003, 09:37 PM ^^BUMP^^
Last call before I put it on Ebay.
Matt Pope May 5th, 2003, 07:13 AM I'm also wondering if you've still got any of these items available.
Thanks...
Guest May 5th, 2003, 02:38 PM Price is now $795.00 + shipping.
Roze Ann May 7th, 2003, 11:58 AM Hi Ken,
I am about to move up to an XL1s or GL2. I have an older Sony VX3 3CCD (pred to VX1000) with many extras I would like to sell. Please email me at lagniappedeaux@yahoo.com for photos and details if interested. I'm in your price range. The VX3 is certainly not up there with the newer cameras but it's a great way to go "in the meantime" with a good clean image. This cams were used during the first Gulf War and had a great track record. Mine was serviced by Sony and brought back "into spec" before I shelved it. Have kept as a backup but no longer using. Anyway...this may help. Let me know.
Aaron Rosen May 7th, 2003, 04:48 PM Hey All -
I love my GL2 and have thought about getting an XL1-S.
If I ***were*** to offer to sell my GL2, what would it get with the following accessories?
- GL2, low hours - 10 or less
- MA-300 XLR Mic Adaptor
- WD-58h Wide Angle Lense
- The mini Canon Light Vi10?
- 1 Sony shotgun Mic w/ phantom pwr.
- 1 Azden shotgun mic w/ self supplied pwr.
- Still under warrenty - bought in Dec 02.
- 1 home built camera stabelizer - like the Glidecam 2000 pro, but done in a machine shop, with gimbal. Works great.
Any info on this would be great.
- AR
Garret Ambrosio May 7th, 2003, 05:21 PM You're the seller why don't you start off with like (for educational purposes only) $2500 obo? I would like pictures of the glide cam and the plans if you don't mind.
Aaron Rosen May 7th, 2003, 05:55 PM Not a problem. I am still not sure if I want to sell. I am more curious if there is a resonable market for it, if it depreciated a lot or of they hold their value.
As for the camera stabelizer... I do not have the plans anymore but would be happy to provide pics.
On that note, if I do decide to sell, I would provide numerous pics of every item I listed.
Thanks again.
Mike Rehmus May 7th, 2003, 06:17 PM There is another 3CCD Sony camera, the EVW-300 which is the predecessor to the DSR-300. Same size, lens, etc. Great pictures but not like DV pictures. I just sold a 220 head hour, vitrually flawless EVW-300 body to a friend for $750.
Rick Forge May 8th, 2003, 09:27 AM AAron- If you do sell you might want to separate out the accessories. I say that because I'd love to take that shotgun mic and MA 300 adaptor of your hands! Let me know if you do sell.
Rick
Scott Allen May 8th, 2003, 08:02 PM I am very interested in your gl2 if you'll sell just the camera and it's standard accessories. Email me. scott@stoplightmedia.com

Steve Nunez May 14th, 2003, 10:52 AM Hello everyone,
I have a barely used mint Videonics/Focus Enhancements Firestore FS-1 for sale. It inlcudes everything as purchased when new and even includes the optional field battery pack which allows it be used outside for totally tapeless dv capture. Chris Hurd wrote an excellent article on this device and it's somewhere on this forum. This is actually a newer version than the one he reviewed as this has the new Firmware applied by the factory and has more output formats and works excellently with Mac and PC NLE's.
$600 takes it. (sells for $999)
e-mail stevenyc1@aol.com for details or questions.
Thanks for taking a look.
