LOL --William Max Mishler September 11th, 2003, 01:03 PM William, You should have received an e-mail from me already. I'm trying to abstain from conducting the actual transactions via the message board so as to keep the thread relatively simple to follow. (not as easy as I thought...lol) If you haven't already received my e-mail (maybe you're using a different one now than the one you have listed with dvinfo.net) please e-mail me at either mishler@sccoast.net or mmishler@cgp.net. Thanks for your interest! Max William Velasquez September 11th, 2003, 01:05 PM ooops! You're right, I got your email DOH! thanks! --William Jake Rheinfrank September 11th, 2003, 05:40 PM is anyone interested in buying just the xl-1 body? i am selling it to try to afford a new xl-1s body. It has had very few hours put on it, has only traveled between chicago, where i live, and santa fe where i goto school. this is just to see if anyone would be interested, if not its off to ebay... email me about prices... thanx -jake Alex Knappenberger September 11th, 2003, 08:53 PM Anyone have any lowend minidv camcorders for sale, around or under $200? As long as it works, and if it has a mic input, thats another plus. I realized I need another camera if i'm going to do a talk show style public access show, it would be a PITA to try to shoot that single camera. Thanks. Jed Williamson September 12th, 2003, 12:39 PM Amazon has Sharp VLNZ55U for 268.88 after rebate. That probably is the lowest price on any brand new mini dv camcorder. Mark Chiocchi September 12th, 2003, 06:44 PM Carlos. $7000 Dick Steele September 14th, 2003, 11:16 AM system has been sold, thanks. Dick Steele Frondeur Films Neil Slade September 14th, 2003, 11:28 AM $185 NEW capsule only, see below for power supply The Seinnheiser ME66 and ME67 shotgun mikes are the industry standards for broadcast and film applications for shotgun mikes under $1000. These are the best and most accurate mikes you can get for your projects in this class, period. See:http://www.ggvideo.com/senn_mic.htm for specs. The ME66 has a slightly broader pattern- more of a cardoid, where as the ME67 has a slightly more narrow pattern of pickup for situations where you prefer to eliminate interference sounds from outside your focal area- such as on the street or noisy environments. The 67 is used when the mike needs to be a longer distance from your subject. The ME 66 and ME67 however have the same frequency characteristics, and in many instances are totally interchangable- they are really the same mike with merely a different barrel that accoustically changes the pickup pattern slightly. Lobar pick-up pattern Highly directional Low inherent self-noise High sensitivity factor Wide frequency response Frequency response 40 - 20,000 Hz +/- 2.5 dB I have a spare ME67 capsule for sale- so you'll need the power supply K6P if you don't have one, (which you may have if you have the ME66K6 setup already). The power supply is the same/compatible/interchangable between the ME66 and ME67 See the above link for K6P as well info. The actual discounted street price for the capsule is $280+. This unit was never used, and I am asking $185 and includes free foam windscreen (list $30) and shipping. An excellent choice if you want the best shotgun narrow pattern mike, or a second addition to your mikes. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, paypal accepted as I am a nationally know publisher. I seems to enquire all the possible photo/video equipment shops in singapore and none can tell me. yowsiang Jeff Donald September 15th, 2003, 09:00 AM I've sold two and I have just one left. This one has a few marks. I'll sell it for $750 plus shipping. This is a steal, the head alone goes for more than this. This is a great tripod, at a great price. I accept PayPal, Money Orders and Cashiers Checks. Stephen van Vuuren September 16th, 2003, 11:09 AM Price reduced to $395 (still includes shipping and insurance). Mike Hinchey September 16th, 2003, 11:35 AM I was looking at a Ewa-Marine brand but I'm open to others. To be used for surf photography, I'm not actually sure which housing is best suited for this purpose. What do you have? Thanks Jay Gladwell September 16th, 2003, 11:42 AM The Ewa-Marine is exactly what I have--never used. Mike Hinchey September 16th, 2003, 12:04 PM I'm still researching the best housing for this application - do you know of other's experience using the Ewa-Marine? What's your asking price? Jay Gladwell September 16th, 2003, 12:13 PM First, I know nothing about surfing. Second, most other housings cost thousands of dollars. The Ewa was the only one in my price range at the time. Third, find the best price you can online, send it to me, and I'll beat it by $100. Roze Ann September 16th, 2003, 10:31 PM Hey Kris...sounds like a cool package. What did you use it for and why are you selling so quickly after purchase? Thanks. Adrian Douglas September 17th, 2003, 03:49 AM I wouldn't use an Ewa-marine housing for shooting surfing as if you get sucked over the falls or take a pounding of any kind, highly likely in Hawiian surf, it offers absolutely no protection for your camera. Come to think of it I wouldn't even use an XL1 for shooting surfing I'd be more inclined to go for the GL1/2 and an Ikelite housing. The XL is a large camera when it comes to underwater work and not really suited to surf shooting. There are a couple of housings available but they are extremely cumbersome for use in the surf, they're more designed for work with SCUBA gear. I can't remember who makes them but I remember seeing one at a photo trade show a few years ago, it was about the size of a 5 gallon drum and cost around US$5000. Dean Sensui September 17th, 2003, 04:46 AM Housings used for surfing are built somewhat differently from those used for scuba. With scuba, constant pressure helps seal the housing. For surf, you'll need a housing that's tightly sealed against rapid pressure changes. The Ewa Marine housing can't tolerate much submersion. Note that pressure increases 1/2 pound per foot of depth. At five feet you're getting 2.5 pounds of pressure. It doesn't sound like much except that it's 2.5 pounds per square inch. An XL1 in an Ewa Marine housing has a lot of square inches! With surf, you're going to take an occasional pounding and the pressure can vary quickly when ducking through a wave. This pressure change can eventually suck water into a housing, and that's why housings for surf photography are built differently. Here's just one example: http://hcwhousings.freehomepage.com/ I'd have to agree with Adrian. Consider using a smaller camera. The smallest housing you're going to find for an XL1 is built by Gates and it's a few thousand dollars (see B&H Photo's pricing). Weight can also be a problem. A heavy housing will be nearly impossible to hoist above the surface to get a good shot. And you'll probably going to need one hand free to hang onto a board if you're using one. You might want something that's lighter and easier to handle. I assume you've been in surf before? I tried shooting from the water once. A really bad current kept me out of the prime spot. So I got out, ran to my car and got the long lens to get the shot. Dean Sensui Base Two Productions Adrian Douglas September 17th, 2003, 05:19 AM Mike, check out these guys (http://www.aquatech.com.au/index.htm) if you are serious about using your XL for surf work. They specialize in building housings for surfing and can build you a custom one for your XL. It's gonna cost a Pipe Masters winners purse though. I'd seriously think of a smaller camera just as Dean suggests. Something the size of a housed XL is going to be a beast to handle in the powerful Hawaiian surf, it might be OK on the back of a jet-ski, but a smaller camera could be the difference between getting the shot and becoming part of the Pipe reef. Mike Hinchey September 17th, 2003, 07:31 PM Adrian and Dean, Thanks for your valued and much appreciated input Sorry Jay, no sale on the Ewa Marine - blame the guys! Jaime Valles September 17th, 2003, 08:20 PM Hello all. I have a Glidecam V8 unit for sale. It was purchased this past May, so it's only 4 months old, and was used for some scenes in a feature-length MiniDV film, and worked perfectly. It's in very good condition, a couple of minor cosmetic scratches on the pole and arm, but otherwise in excellent shape. It includes all the original equiment and manuals, and even the original box with styrofoam peanut packaging. The unit was bought from B&H Photo and Video in NYC for $2300. I'll part with it for $1900, or make me an offer. I accept Certified bank checks or money orders. If you are around the New York City area, you can check it out in person, and of course not have to pay for shipping. Email me to set up a meeting if you'd like. Or, we can work out shipping options and costs. The Glidecam V8 is an amazing camera stabilizer, and worked wonders with my DVX100. It'll take a few days of practicing to get it right, but once you get the hang of it , it's really cool. For more info on the Glidecam V8, visit www.glidecam.com Thanks a bunch! Jaime jrv2@cornell.edu Pat Dearing September 17th, 2003, 10:16 PM I have Panasonic PV-DV150 that I would sell for $200 plus shipping. It's in excellent condition - haven't been using it since I upgraded to a GL1. email me if you're interested. dearing@lkdllink.net Adrian Douglas September 18th, 2003, 03:35 AM Yeah sorry Jay but I would hate to hear of someone losing their camera due to the wrong housing for the job. Ewa housings are good for work off the back of a jet-ski for small-wave surfing, in a tube for wakeboarding, or in the snow, but for actually swimming with a camera in powerful Hawaiian surf you need every bit of protection you can get. Todd Danen September 18th, 2003, 12:34 PM 2002 XL1-S for sale. Approx 30 hours use. Like new condition. Factory box and manual. Tamrac 2249 case. Beachtek DXA-4C XLR adaptor. Equalizer windscreen. Jaime Valles September 18th, 2003, 07:36 PM Hello! I'm selling a practically unused JTL Everlight Kit. It was bought at Adorama in NYC, and includes everything it came with: 3 complete softbox lights with stands, five 3000k halogen bulbs (3 came with the kit, I bought 2 spares) and a soft carrying case. The whole kit was only used one day, for about 3 hours total. It's in perfect condition, and worked like a charm. It was bought for $550. I'll sell it for $450, or give me an offer. I accept bank certified checks or money orders, or cash. I live in New York City, so if you're in town you can check it out in person, and not pay shipping. Email me if you have any questions. Thanks! Jaime jrv2@cornell.edu Jaime Valles September 18th, 2003, 07:55 PM Ok, I promise this is the last thing I'm posting for the moment ;) I'm selling my Cobra Crane I jib arm. I bought it from Promax this past May, it's in very good shape, and worked perfectly with my DVX100 during the summer. There's a couple of cosmetic scratches on the plate where the camera attaches to the crane, but it's in perfect working condition. It includes all the equipment that came with the crane, the user's manual, and the original shipping box. It was bought for $200. I'll sell it for $150, or best offer. I'll take bank certified checks, money orders, or cash. I live in New York City, so you can check it out in person if you want, and not pay shipping costs.
