View Full Version : Importing animations into Final Cut

I have animations all under 1 minute that I need to import into FC. They are in QT.mov format so you would think they would import fine. But no something funny is happening.

Files sent to me are QT 29.97fps. When I import they come in as QT 10fps and will not show. So I open in QT the original it plays fine. My timeline is Prores HQ 1280 x 720 and the animation files are 1024 x 576 29.97fps which should not be a problem.

So I try and export in QT as prores and they come in but only half of the files.

What am I missing and what other information do you need to help me solve this problem?

It would help to know know what Codec the animations are encoded with. Animation, M-Jpeg, DV...

While playing it back in QuickTime Player, hit Splat-I for information and you should get a readout that includes codec.

Interesting. How do the imported files show up in the Browser?

I think I MAY have this figured out.
-In the browser, select one of the clips.
-In the menu bar, selct Modify => Alpha Type and try "Straight" and/or None/Ignore and see if the images appear.

Shaun you nailed it. The setting was on Straight and when changed to Non/Ignore it works fine.

No problem. I used to do a lot of Animation exports to video for our local sports teams' Jumbotrons and I ALWAYS had that issue. Gets to be standard practice after a while...
