I have a Manfrotto 522A Lanc Controller for my Sony PDX10 camcorder. It also works on a Canon GL1 even though it is not listed. Manfroto lists the A1U and Z1U as compatible. Does anyone know if it will work with the HDR-FX1000 or HVR-Z5U? I have not been able to find anything that tells me if the commands are compatible. This controller is unpowered (uses no batteries). If it works, it would be a plus for me, since the controller was quite expensive.

I have a Varizoom LANC controller that works just find on the Z5U and all other Sony cameras I've tried. I assume that the Manfrotto will be the same.

Yes, LANC Controllers will work.

Remember that the Z5/Z7 are new models featuring the latest version of LANC ("e" I guess) with capability of Iris, Gain etc. remote control (there is a new hardware controller from sony offering nearly (?) all parameters, but only one at a time, thats the limitation of LANC).

The Bebob Zoe-dvxl works just fine on the Z5 too.
