I'm using Sony Vegas 7.0e to capture DV files (downconverted from HDV) from XHA1 and getting 1 big file instead of multiple files (usually generated from rec-stop scene detection). Is there any setting in the camcorder or Sony Vegas I should adjust to make the scene detection works properly? Thanks in advance!

This should be moved the Vegas list. The A1 doesn't really have anything to do with this.

I don't use Vegas so I cannot help you with this.

Hi Ian. Vegas has 2 separate capture applications, one for HDV and one for DV. Try checking the "Enable HDV Scene Detection" and "Enable DV Scene Detection" boxes in the preferences for the 2 capture apps, and see if it helps.

I tried this on my A1 and Vegas 7.? to see if maybe the down conversion process in the camera was interfering with the scene detection process, but Sony detected the three scenes downcoverted from HDV 60i to DV without a hitch. As the previuos poster said, have you gone to Preferences>Capture>Scene Detection to verify it's selected?

Another quick question: Is the CLOCK SET on the camera? If the clock was not set when the tape was recorded, scene detection will not work as it looks for jumps in the date/time code.
