Just curious how the quality of the 1080i footage from the HD200 is? I know you need to send it to a hard drive or the optional solid-state attachment. Is it as good as stuff from the Canon XL A1, etc?

the serie 2xx jvchd CAN'T HAVE a REAL 1080i !!!! is a 720 upscaling to 1080I so not real!
this because the sensor's of the hd 200-251 have the same sensor of the hd100-110
so "only" 1280x720 pixles...
the analog output of the hd200 or more...have no compression BUT is upscaling...
so the true is a better 720 (no compression) about the same from the firewire output.

today 720p is really e poor "hd"... I undrestand on the 1xx series.. NOT on the expansive 2xx...

1080 i&p is't minimal TODAY..because just many (panasonic) are on 1980i

Pansonic chips are 960 x 540 in HPX-500's. Sony's HDV are 960 x 1080i. The $20k sonys are 1440 x 1080. JVC's are 1280 x 720.
