Hi,

Does Neo Scene support importing and converting standard DV into Cineform AVI? If not, is there another Cineform product that I can use to import DV into CF AVI?

The idea was to create a backup disk of all the old tapes...

We don't support the DV tape transport, there are plenty of tools that do. You can transcode DV files into CineForm using NEO HD or Prospect HD.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

OK, so I can use either of the products you mention to import DV. But, what's the difference between them? Is the main difference that Prospect includes a real-time engine for Premiere Pro, while Neo HD does not?

Also, any suggestion to which format/standard I should import in? Do you recommend importing DV files into progressive AVI (since it will most likely not be used on CRT)?

What I'm trying to achieve is to digitize my old DV tapes in a format/standard/quality that will be as compatible as possible with future editing software - either Premiere Pro or Fincal Cut Pro.

Thanks,

Sverre

Store as DV .avi or MOV, that is fine for archive.

Hello, and thanks so far.

Will there be any difference in quality if I use Neo HD compared to Prospect?

If I do use Neo HD, how will that format be to work with in Premiere Pro - will I need to render everything, compared if I use Prospect where I only need to render transitions?

Also, for older projects where I have used Aspect transitions like cross-disolve - is it correct to assume those transitions are not part of Neo HD, so that if I want to open the old projects I will need Prospect?

Thanks,

Sverre

Wrong thread. Prospect HD doesn't need to render most transitions either. Aspect HD project require Prospect HD, not NEO HD, if they are to open correctly.
