What is the best format to shoot in for web delivery. I've been noticing some interlacing lines when viewing the final product on the web -> Real estate For Sale in Broome ,3 Saville Street $899,000 Tony Hutchinson - Broome Real Estate - Your Key to Real Estate in Broome and Derby (http://www.hutchrealestate.com.au/property.asp?pid=138983) (click on virtual tour)

Should I shoot and edit in progressive? The above was shot in 720 50i (PAL).

Cheers.

Hi Johann,
I think as long as you de-interlace before uploading to the web you should be able to shoot interlaced. If however, there is no need to be shooting intelaced, ie for slo-mo, then i would just shoot progressive, edit progressive, & output progressive.

I keep it all progressive, 24fps in my case. No deinterlace artifacts to deal with. Looks better to me.

For what your shooting almost certainly I would shoot progressive

Consensus is shoot with your delivery media in mind. Since the Web is by definition progressive, that's the place to start. But keep the long view. If you might need the footage for some other media in the future, keep that in mind too.

You can deinterlace in post but it adds another step.

Thanks for the advice. There is the option to give clients a DVD copy of their house video, but primarily the distribution will be via the web.

Hi Johann,

I wanted to ask about how much business you're getting with the real estate stuff but your website doesn't seem to be working - can you send me an email?
