Project properties setup for HDV

camera = Canon XH-A1, set properties template to 1920 x 1080i 29.97

Capture app says "device not available.

I have my camera set to HDV output via the firewire bus. I am using a Firewire 400 express 34 slot on my MacBook Pro

Select the IEEE MPEG 2 TS in preferences but the "device" field meaning the camera, or anything else is blank.

Holy crap!
I was sitting there minding my own business and a message comes up saying the the XH-A1 device driver was successfully installed!
I didn't do anything.
the camera display went from HDV to DV. I turned the camera off then on. Now it's recognizing the camera. (at least for now).

Man, this is too weird. I've been doing everything for 45 minutes to get these two to sync up. Hope it doesn't happen again.

I've also found capturing HDV is a different animal than SD. I agree it is strange!
