View Full Version : The old downconversion chestnut!!!!!!!

Hi all,

Just been reading more and more threads about downconversion.

It seems to me that a lot of people are happy with the downconverts on their monitors. I have tried many different methods and some do give rubbish results when just played as a file on a monitor. But several times I thought I had cracked it.

I would output using this codec or that and compare with my best result thus far. Sometimes seemingly getting a great result (no jaggies or aliasing) only to find when it was burnt it would normally look awful.

This leads me to think that it's more likely that something is being lost in DVD Studio pro.

My preferred method at the moment is to edit on an HD timeline and export straight from that to Compressor at DVD best quality 90 mins. Sounds the simplest but I have tried lots of other ways and on burning this still stands up best.

Anyone had any experience with other burning programs?

It might be that we are blaming Compressor wrongly!

Bitvice has always been my choice over Compressor for years - sharper and cleaner for DVDs.

Hi Greg,

I'm not so sure wether compressor is at fault, more DVD Studio.

I'm gonna burn some stuff with Encore see if it makes a difference.

What settings do you use in BitVice??

Regards
