In order to help solve a problem that I posted in a separate thread, I'm trying to relate the DVD specification's "Title Menu" (VMGM), "Root Menu" (VTSM) and "GoUp" internal names to the various menu types and "virtual remote control buttons" in DVDA. (I'm getting my information about these three functions from "DVD Mystified", third edition, page 9-27)
DVDA's Preview's virtual remote has the following buttons: Resume; Back; Menu.
"Resume" appears to perform the action that on a “Real” DVD player would occur when the user presses a menu button a second time – i.e., the player returns to the point in a title that it was playing when the menu was invoked.
"Back" appears only to work when a menu (other than the top or main menu) is displayed. It acts as a “go up one menu level” (and I realize that the DVD standard doesn’t impose any hierarchical architecture on menus)
"Menu" appears to work only when a title is playing, and invokes the menu (possibly the menu specified in the title’s remote control “Menu” property – I haven’t experimented sufficiently to state that categorically).
If that’s what the three buttons do, then how do I test the “Top menu” functionality? Or am I missing something? (Perhaps DVDA doesn't create a Title Menu - maybe all its menus are "root menus"???)
Can anyone shed light on this for me?
Thx...
