My diverse client list requires a very wide variety of formats. I'd like to buy a new monitor that I can use with as many formats as possible...and not break the bank.

This would be in the 7" to 9" range.

Cameras include various SD cameras, Panasonic HDX900, Sony F900, EX-1 & EX-3, Sony Z-1u. The biggest pain is the F900, I may have to exclude that from the list.

Are you just talking about HD & SD, or NTSC, PAL, SECAM.
Also, what would not break the bank?
Do you have a budget in mind?
Is this an on camera monitor, or client preview/video village monitor fed from a DA?

take a monitor that has high resolution (1280x720) and has at least component and hdmi and can accept 1080 also.
Manhattan LCD has a 10" that can do that.
if you need to add HD-SDI, you still can find a converter to HDMI or component.
You will also be able to use such converter for other purpose (capturing from a PC).

never had a need for SECAM, rarely PAL, I could live without both.

Love to stay under $1000.

Monitor will be for me next to camera, not on camera.


Giroud, do you have any specific monitors in mind?

manhattanlcd has some kits or ready-to-use monitor from 7" to 15".
they are cheap and good.
For sure , they do not make miracle, they just assemble parts together and wrap into a case. but the result is ok.
unfortunately, seems the parts are difficult to obtain, so the models are changing or out of stock frequently. For the price, worth to try.
izzotek is selling such kit too.

Sorry Ed, but I can not recommend a professional monitor in that size range under $1000 for use with the cameras you listed.
