I had a HD shoot this week that was shot in 720 30p. I wish I could have used the XDR to record it, but the XDR doesn't record in this format at this time. We went to tape.

Scott Chad Haufschild December 22nd, 2008, 12:55 PM You bring up an interesting point. For us JVC HD250 shooters the Flach XDR unit doesn't seem to support all the formats the camera is best at: 24p and 30p at 720. Hmmm... I'm still hoping th find a similar device that will allow the native 720 24p recording of the camera. Cineform has dropped the ball on their direct-to-disk recorder. The Elite HD is too darn expensive. The Flash XDR won't natively support my camera's formats. Maybe it will with the next firmware upgrade. Dan Keaton December 22nd, 2008, 05:28 PM Dear Chad and Douglas, We do intend on support a wide array of formats. We are currently hard at work on MXF. As soon as we can, we will be implementing these formats. Douglas Scott December 22nd, 2008, 08:26 PM I am glad you're working on the MXF format as well; some of my clients use that format. Many programs for the Discovery Channel and others are shot at 720/30p. Scott Dan Keaton December 23rd, 2008, 12:19 AM Dear Douglass, Thank you for the information. I was not aware that Discovery Channel used 720p30. We will work to get this added. Paul Cronin December 23rd, 2008, 09:22 AM I agree 720p 30p will be a nice upgrade. All of the footage I have shot for Discovery Channel programs have been 1080p 30p and 1080i by request of the producers. Dan Keaton December 23rd, 2008, 03:28 PM Dear Douglas, I have confirmed that we will be supporting 720p24, 720p25, and 720p30, in a future firmware release. |
