I've just purchased the WD-72H wide angle lens and would like to be able to pull tape for focus. Does anyone know the conversion for distance displayed on the screen to compensate for the Wide Angle (or better yet a way to make the camera compensate and display an accurate distance)?

It's a 1/3" CCD camera with a wide angle attachment.

Yes. When I can, I'd like to nail focus it and not trust this tiny viewfinder.

The camera does have magnification and peaking.
Also your distance display should be correct. Adding a wide angle lens does not change the distance from the object you are shooting. If an object is 12 feet away with the stock lens, it is still 12 feet away with the wide angle.

That doesn't seem to be correct. When I taped a good focus at 3' actual, it registered 4.5 on the screen.

I have not tested the distance scale against a tape measure with the 0.8X WA lens, but with a 0.6X Century WA the camera scale is way off.

With 0.8X it is perfectly possible to focus with auto or using the peaking/magnification, but turn off the speed focus thingy, it is blocked by the WA lens. I would trust my eyes more than a tape measure anyway with these cameras.
