Hello fellow film makers,

I'm trying to find open frequencies in Tokyo for wireless lav mics. I've searched the internet and can only find US frequencies. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Kev

Never mind I found this chart Sennheiser Evolution Wireless Frequency Combinations (http://www.northernsound.net/Sales/Wireless/sennheiser/freqchart.html)

Kevin:

Theoretically none of the US based equipment is legal there. Authorized frequencies in Japan are in the 779-819 range, well above any of our US blocks.

However, when people who travel with wireless to Japan report that they simply
list the wireless on the carnet as a microphone (avoiding the words radio and wireless) while disconnecting and storing the antenna with all the other supplementary gear such as cables.

A buddy of mine took my lectro and zaxcom over there and had no issues using them, but they were very careful about how they listed the equipment.

Thank you for replying as I wasn't clear on which bandwidth to use. I'm still unclear as to which is the best bandwidth to use, A, B, or C. Does it really matter? We're going to be doing some traveling around Tokyo and filming in the city but I just figured if we got any interference then we would just switch to a different channel. Thanks for the helpful tip on how to get the equipment into the city as this wouldn't be the first time we've had to fib to customs. ;)
