Hi All,

hoping someone could offer some advice as to a problem I am having with my Sony UWP-C1 wireless lav mic. After about an hour of use I get this thumping sound that sounds like a heartbeat. If i switch the mic and receiver off and on it goes for a few minutes and comes back. I have changed the batteries for with no joy, and it has happened on more than one shoot in different locations so I don't think it can be any form of interference.

Googling has resulted in no joy whatsover! They aren't under warranty as I purchasd them 2nd hand :/ Thanks for your help,

Anthony

Does changing the position of the mic on the talent have any effect? The mic itself, I mean, not the transmitter. Picking up heartbeats, stomach gurgles, burps, etc is one of the problems sometimes encountered with lavs in general.

Hi Steve,

The noise is not in fact coming from the talent but within the equipment itself. I've left it on now for an hour and the frequency of the thump has increased so much that it now sounds like a helicopter. Changing frequencies in both units has not had an effect as yet. The sound is present if the mic is not attached also.

Cheers,

Ant

Anthony,
sound like it's repair time. Could have a bad capacitor in ur gear. First need to isolate it to either the TX or RX.
