I am going to dial down the look of a project i'm working on via the camera's presets but before I do that, I want my hd broadcast monitor to be accurately calibrated. I came across this article which states it is specifically for digital signals in the future: HD CINEMA: HD and Digital Cinema Camera Blog: HD MONITOR CALIBRATION (aka how to calibrate w/ ARIB bars) (http://hd-cinema.blogspot.com/2008/06/hd-monitor-calibration.html)

Was wondering what you guys thought of this method

anyone have any feedback on this? It seems you need ARIB bars instead of SMPTE to calibrate HD monitors, how do you go about getting a ARIB signal?

Interesting, if you find out where we can download the ARIB bar, please let me know.

Most pro HDV cameras have an in-cam ARIB test pattern. Use that or build your own according to the chart in the article. Colorbars are 75% or R=180:16:16, G=16:180:16, and B= 16:16:180.
