One of the cameramen I work with has just finished filming preparations for the Race to the South Pole. He spent about an hour and a half in an environmental chamber filming at -46c with his F330. The camera was kept on during the shoot which helped keep it warm, but even so it's pretty impressive.

Did you use any thing to keep the camera warm?

There were no covers on the camera!

wow!

Was it yours or a loaner unit?
;-)

Really impressive - I doubt that IŽd give it a try without any warming cover....

Not my camera, it was a cameraman I work with that did the shoot. As I said the camera was left switched on and this helped keep it warm. The crews that are going to the Antarctic for the race are currently testing various battery technologies as at those temperatures most batteries only retain a fraction of their full capacity. Probably going to end up using fuel cell power packs.
