Everything just falls in a heap. Shame, would have enjoyed watching that. I get the start of the Guardian logo intro then it simply dissapears up it's own exhaust pipe. Bugger. CS Jenn Kramer November 25th, 2008, 11:57 PM You could try downloading VLC and watching it. It works on my Mac, at least. Whatever happened to "cross platform operability"? Probably mowed down by a bloody train. The problem seems to be that the server doesn't give me an option to either save or run. Run is it, and Quicktime is the run of it's choice. Instant "up exhaust pipe". CS Jenn Kramer November 26th, 2008, 03:50 AM You should be able to right-click on the link in the sticky and do a 'Save as...' or 'Download Link Target...' depending on your browser. Darrin Altman November 26th, 2008, 03:14 PM Dan - loved your video and am so excited about the possibilities with this camera. Dan or anyone here: I read that you converted your clips to Pro Res 422. I am trying to visualize that process. Did you set up a Pro Res 422 sequence in FCP and just import your clips that way, render and export or did you use Compressor or Quicktime Pro to convert. Probably a basic process I am for some reason unsure as to the best approach. Any info / advice is greatly appreciated. Matt Buys November 26th, 2008, 06:13 PM Dan, thanks for the shots. Makes me want to visit Beijing. Quick semi OT. What is the object the people are kicking in the vimeo video that looks like a feathered lawn dart? Dan used the free application MPEG Streamclip (according to another of his posts). When working with a lot of footage, I'd be inclined to make a rough cut in the native H.264 before transcoding, to save time and drive space. Then CC the Prores version. I also use Episode but I'm no compression expert. I'd also be curious to know if there's any difference in the quality of H.264 > Prores transcoding between Compressor, MPEG Streamclip, Episode, and a straight export from FCP. Sterling Youngman December 23rd, 2008, 05:27 PM 1. In Movie mode the HDMI outputs 1080i when you are framing up and sorting focus and exposure. It has the overlays the same as D90 and the 16x9 image does not fill the width of the screen. Is it not possible to turn off the overlay? I would like to record the HDMI directly to a computer. Cheers, Sterling Dee Joslin December 27th, 2008, 08:27 AM After watching the clip "Prism", I get the feeling I'm watching the Korean version of "Reverie". Not that that it's a bad thing but the similarity is uncanny. A guy in a white suit traveling around looking for a beautiful girl...blah blah blah. All that is missing is the helicopter. Both nicely done, showing the awesome video from the 5Dll. Dee Joslin December 27th, 2008, 09:08 AM Dan used the free application MPEG Streamclip (according to another of his posts). I believe he used MPEG Streamclip to convert to Xdcam EX. Does MS convert to ProRes? Dee Joslin December 27th, 2008, 09:49 AM I'm going to hold off on making a judgement on how 5DmkII footage compares to that of the Sony EX until I've had more time to test it. Initial impressions are that the EX still give more lattitude and a crisper image but I reserve the right to amend that assesement. I have done 2 comparisons of 5d Mark ll footage vs. EX1 footage over the past 2 weeks. This was not side by side but shooting the identical subject in pretty much the same environment from exactly the same spot. I will post next week but I'm giving the "image quality" of the 5D the nod over the EX1. I'll go into the technicalities when I post the clips. Having said that, I don't see the 5D as a replacement of the EX1(3) or HVX or any video camera. It's not a video camera. It's a high end DSLR that happens to shoot a very solid quality 1080p. Although I did let my EX1 go in order to get the 5D, but hey, I'd rather love and lost than to never own an EX1 in the first place. I'll be doing a shoot at Longwood Gardens in PA. next week as well. HDMI out drops to 480P when recording is activated - Japanese engineering wonders via marketing. Sterling Youngman December 28th, 2008, 11:30 AM HDMI out drops to 480P when recording is activated - Japanese engineering wonders via marketing. this doesn't bother me, because if I record directly into a computer, I wouldn't need to turn on the camera record feature so I it wouldn't switch to 480P. -S |
