Is there any reason to buy the DR HD100 over the new FS-5? By that I mean would the HD100 be a better option simply because its designed to work with the JVC?

Thanks,

Drew

Exactly. Don't make the same mistake I did.

The MR-HD100 (http://pro.jvc.com/pro/pr/2008/ibc/photos/MR-HD100-wifi-m.jpg) is JVC's modified version of the FS-5, just as the DR-HD100 is the JVC specific version of the FS-4HD.

The MR-HD100 was announced during IBC (http://pro.jvc.com/pro/pr/2008/ibc/mrhd100u.html) but I haven't heard when it will hit the street.

Spend the extra dollars and get the DR HD100 (or the MR-HD100). It will have full support for your JVC HD camera, where the FS-5 will probably leave out a few functions and will not interface with the viewfinder at all. I have an FS-4HD which will not shoot QuickTime 24p and can not be monitored in the viewfinder.

So there's no word on when the new one will be available?

For someone looking to go tapless in the very near future, would you say the MR-HD100 is worth waiting for?
