i have just picked up my 16gig cards, doing a few tests. i capture a 50 min of footage and then pop the card into my mac book pro and open it in XDCAM Transfer, i see there a some small lines on the time line, they have no effect but just wanting to know what they are there for,??

Could be where the file is split into 3.5gb sections.
If i record one long clip, (wedding ceremony or speeches usually are that long), when i look at the card in windows i see multiple clips split into around 3.5 gb each, however when i look at that same clip in clip browser i see on long clip, which in reality is what it is, i only hit the record button once after all.

Have a look at some smaller clips and the line probably won't be there.

Paul is right. The card have a FAT 32 format, which does not allow more than 4 GB filesize. Sony obviously have found a smart work-around for this problem, since I never have had any problems with their solution.
