the high quality mode of youtube gets you this:

YouTube - PS196 Ellis Island & Statue of Liberty Trip, Filmed with Sony PMW-EX1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvvQ52m-tjY&fmt=18)

here in my son's site, i present the same youtube stored video in a larger format.
in fact, even larger than what vimeo can provide.

Vimeo provides 1280x720.

you'll need at least 2 more clicks to get that on your display.
unless you know how to embed the full 720p on you site with vimeo.

Vimeo provides 1280x720.

Paul: The quality is nice. What setting did you output the video with and what software did u use for compressing?

marlon,

lately and for this project, i used on my apple, the quicktime pro software to convert into DIVX at the highest default settings and used the single pass. for this video, the native was 1080HD and 30fps

i found that divx is still the fastest compression method.

marlon,

the highest default settings and used the single pass. for this video, the native was 1080HD and 30fps

Paul: Thank you for sharing. I tried a few settings and found the quality very nice. one more thing...on ur advance setting do u keep the resolution:
1980x1080 or did u input 480x360 (youtubes dimensions),
extreme encoding or insane encoding,
1-pass or 1-pass quality based,
1080HD or Hi-Def Profile,
i kept the bitrate at the default 6000

I've been trying different settings, all playback super nice. on youtube i noticed just a few chops, so im trying to get more of ur inputs just to double check my work.

note: my final cut movies sequence are in HDV 1920x1080 some 24 some 30, shot with canon xh-a1 and the xl-h1, on a powermac G5 Quad, 30 inch hd cinema display.

thank you!
