View Full Version : Mine is in the can! EDIT: OH NO, EPIC FAILURE! and I'm the first one out...
Dylan Couper November 1st, 2008, 10:04 PM EDIT: See post #3.
Normally I leave it until the last day, but I wrote my script (8 pages actually) on Thursday, put my plan together yesterday, and shot it today.
Shot on my cheap ol' Canon HV20! 2 actors (if you include me as an actor) + 1 camera op. Budget:
1 bottle of scotch $60
1 styrofoam grave stone $7
1 copy of "Penthouse Letters" $10
Lunch at Harvey's $24
Gas $30
James Huenergardt November 2nd, 2008, 04:22 PM That's a nice feeling.
I have my story/characters/scenes lined up, but my writer is too busy this week to write and now I'm left to figure out Final Draft.
Oh well...
Dylan Couper November 2nd, 2008, 06:59 PM Got the call from the editor today... "You have heavy audio dropouts over the final 2/3rds of this. You're f---ed."
Yup. I'm going to blame the camera operator, who was (supposed to be) listening in to the audio.
Anyway, Saturday was the only free day I had to shoot before the contest ended... so I'm out... failed... done... Hey, at least I have a copy of Penthouse Letters and a bottle of scotch to cheer me up!
Ken Bates November 2nd, 2008, 07:01 PM Oh NO ! ! !
Now I am feeling guilty about my jealousy on your early completion. I hope I don't have some kind of voodoo doll powers....
Lorinda Norton November 3rd, 2008, 04:09 AM Man, that really stinks, D. I’m glad you have some *ahem* diversions to cheer you up.
Stinks for me, too--when I saw that you were in it I was hoping for a reprise of some sort from DVC4. ;)
Dennis Khaye November 3rd, 2008, 12:59 PM Can't ADR? Gosh, even with another actor maybe. I'll open my whole library of sound effects for you too if you need them. I'm an old theater major so it's just inconceivable that something can't be fixed. The show MUST go on!

Wow, thanks for the offer! Very generous!
I was toying with ADR... Got relatives coming into town in a couple days for a loooong weekend, and a ton of other stuff on my plate.
I might just pull out a classic Dylan move and do a single cam, solo shoot the day it is due. Sure wish we went with "couches" as a theme. :)
Dick Mays November 5th, 2008, 05:54 PM Do it as a silent movie, interspersing old timey text between scenes.
Dennis Khaye November 6th, 2008, 02:55 AM OMGosh, I love that idea. Add some old timey flicker too.
