Greets,

I am working with HD footage for the first time in Vegas Pro 8.0c. I know Vegas has a lot of choices when it comes to rendering your footage.

My question is, what's the best choice to render with for the final output to DVD?
Note: as of now, I do not have a Blue Ray burner so unfortunately, it will not be a HD DVD.

The video files I'm working with are:
1440x1080x12.29.97 fps interlaced / MPEG-2

Also, are there any 3rd party plugins used for rendering that are even superior to what Vegas has?

Thanks in advance.

Mark,

DVD's can only render in one format. Mpeg2. So select the Mainconcept DVD Widescreen option, and render your file. You can adjust the bit rate to make sure it fits on the DVD. You will need to render the audio seperately, and you will see an option for that.

Are there better tools than Vegas? Sure. But in most cases, you REALLY will not want to pay what it costs for top notch Mpeg2 encoding. Vegas does a stellar job with the Mainconcept encoder.

Find a good beginner's guide to rendering out of Vegas for DVDA in Edward Troxel's newsletters (http://www.jetdv.com/), specifically V1#7, but they're all worth a read.
