I have had a Manfrotto 503 head paired with a Manfrotto 351MVB2 legs for about a year. I like the head, hate the legs. They are just too damn heavy and cumbersome for me.

I wanted a lighter pair of sticks that has a bowl to level things off with and still use my 503 head.

Any thoughts on the 535 to be paired with the 503 for an EX1?

I would be doing documentary and photojournalism work with it. So being lightweight and quick to set-up and adjust is key.

Here is a link to the 535:

Yeah, forget them.

If you need a very good tripod just your budget is not there, get the Libec LS 38 - 500$ including silk smooth fluid head. It is best for the price.

Google Libec LS 38 with Nigel Cooper to get the review of this tripod, you will be surprised how good it is.

I already own the 503 head, so I don't really need to go out and buy a whole new system.

Have you used the 535?
