Some EX footage I've shot needs to be converted to uncompressed AVI for use in Blender (per the animator's instructions). Anyone know the best way to do this on a Mac? Thanks.

I have never been able to get my head around Blender ( I'd like to have the time though )

This may or may not work... download Cineform and see if that works...

Cineform will take your existing footage and convert it to an AVI file....

Which Cineform Ray? I'd love not to have to spend too much though for this. Thanks.

Premiere pro exports to uncompressed avi, I do so often from ex1 footage. Sadly clip browser won't do this, it probably should though.

also, I'm pretty sure cineform would just export to cineform codec files

Quicktime will too, I've just got to think there's a better way than transferring the MP4 to MOV then transcoding to AVI.

Why not use XDCAM Clip Brower's Export function? It exports to DV AVI directly from the Browser window by right-clicking on the thumbnail.

I need to stay at 1080 30p. Thanks though.

Neo HD is the way to go. At $600 it's a bit expensive but if you do critical work regularly ... it'll pay for itself.

Thanks all for the info. Could you further help me understand the workflow? I'm a bit confused since it says "Neo for MacOS is not yet shipping, but the CineForm codec for Mac is shipping."

I need on my Mac to convert my EX files to Cineform's AVI-wrapped files. I'm assuming I can do this with the codec?

Then can my animator use the files in Blender just with the free player?

Once he's done, I'll need to incorporate those clips into my FCP project for final editing. That all works?
