Found this article about improvements in LED technology.
I may hold off on buying LEDs for now.

That's a substantial improvement. At least 2 to 3 stops better!

And it won't be out for another year at least nor do we know anything about price or suitability as a video light.
If you're not ready for a LED lighting system, just don't buy one now. Waiting for stuff that may be "just around the corner" really makes little sense if you need to get on with business.

Don't worry about LED UV output - not the same type as harmful UV-B. LEDs emit UV-A, the longest wavelength that is just above the top limit of our ability to 'see'. It's the kind of UV that makes things fluoresce. The UV LEDS are being used in place of the older fashioned discharge UV sources and UV fluorescent tubes. So far, they're not 'quite' right, being a little too visible.
Over the past year, I've seen LED fixtures starting t get quite bright, and less yukky on white. They're not there yet, but with a bit of messing with colour balance are just about ok. I won't be buying any yet, but probably soon!

The white seems fine on mine: http://www.prompterpeople.com/led500.php
And Litepanels are good too, even more compact and lighter weight; also Kino Flo has a new one.

I agree. I have a customized MAG that sports a single Seoul P7. Man is that bright. Bright enough to be Main light at 10'. I know that Lupine Lighting in Germany offers the Betty 7 which is brighter than any Video Camcorder light I know of.
