Hello,

Has anyone seen the Food Network show Feasting on Waves with Alton Brown? In it, he often holds a small camcorder. It looks like a Sony SR-12. Does anyone know which camcorder it is? It's interesting to see a national TV show incorporate AVCHD 1 chip camcorders into their set up even though when they do show his shot it has added "handycam" effects like horizontal lines.

The main cameras are shooting DVCPro HD 1080i, not sure about the make/model of there cameras though.

All Panny gear for this show. See:

Food Network's Alton Brown Talks to Giz: Caribbean Adventuring With a Garmin, an iPhone and a Shload of Cameras (http://gizmodo.com/5046242/food-networks-alton-brown-talks-to-giz-caribbean-adventuring-with-a-garmin-an-iphone-and-a-shload-of-cameras)

I wonder, for a DP, what drives camera selection. Why use Panny vs Sony or vice versa. In some other forums people are complaining about the Sony look or the Panny look, but this shows looks fine and it was shot on gear that by Nov 2008 standards is considered "noisy" or not as good as the current offering from Panny.

I watched the series and cannot understand why they added the horizontal lines to the handycam shots. Looked silly considering he's used handycams in his last 3 road trip shows, the Feasting on Asphalt series.
