I'm out on a shoot with my macbook pro (everything works) and my client & I are trying to get xdcam ex material into FCP on his macbook pro. He didn't have the SxS driver installed, so we put that in, and both the clip browser and the xdcam transfer tool now work. But we always get an error message when we try to transfer WITHIN FCP. I don't have the message in from of me, but it's something about an invalid file structure error.

He's running at least FCP 6.0.2, maybe .4, the SxS driver is version 1.0, I think, and the transfer tool is at least 2.7.0. We have reinstalled everything several times now.

We're out shooting and out of touch most of tomorrow, but I'd appreciate any help that comes in overnight tonight.

Sorry to be vague, but I'm hoping this will trigger something and someone can point us in the right direction.

Thanks,
John

Transfer your footage with the XDCAM transfer software. This will re-wrap the clips into .mov files that FCP will recognize. Make sure before you hit import that you set your target drive and folder. Do this by going to XDCAM Transfer/preferences/import.

Then within FCP import the folder you created. I create the folder within the capture scratch folder on my FW800 media drive.

Hope that helps.

Create a folder to download your SxS card contents. Then you should be able to view via the browser or import via the Sony transfer software (within FCP)

If you're trying to use Log and Transfer inside FCP you need FCP 6.0.4

Thanks for the replies. We know we can transfer from xdcam transfer, we were just hoping to get it working within FCP, as it does just fine on my macbook pro. It does work already as a standalone on his computer, just not within FCP.

If he doesn't have 6.0.4 he'll be upgrading when we get back. I think he does, so I guess a reinstall will be next.

Thanks again for the responses.
