I’m working through Vegas 8 and doing some render testing and would like some feed back on whether I should Blend fields or use Interpolation in the project settings tab.
Then when I render out to Pal 16.9 SD DVD using the render template should I set the field order to Progressive or upper, lower fields?

The down convert from HDV to SD is good but I’m seeing some jaggies as you call it and some field movement especial around the eyes of my talent. Looks like the footage is sort of waving.

My intended output is to DVD SD interlaced but now I’m getting confused with the field settings.

I have good luck doing the following, we shoot with both Z1 and V1 and edit primarily the same. Properties are interpolate, best, progressive, 8 bit. however, we are capturing with cineform NEO HDV either as m2t or avi, and letting cineform de-interlace. I did read somewhere "shoot interlaced, edit progressive" so thats what I do. when I render for dvd. I use mpeg2, dvda ntsc streaming, set at 4x3, progressive, cut the bit rate to maybe 6 because most TVs start sputtering above 8. My tv is a 720p HD and this formula works very well for me. If I render 16x9 I get a stretched video with bars. I did try every possible combination and ended up with this. It works for me and the dvd's when played are not HD but look very good. I always suggest to take one of your clips and render out maybe 30 sec in all different formats and combos just to see what happens, then put them all on one dvd labled so see how they show on you tv. it doesn't take too long and you will end up with a combination that works for you, What I do may not work for you exactly.
