Thank you in advance. Samuel Hinterlang September 28th, 2008, 12:11 AM You might look into a rode video mic if you wanna stay on the cheaper end. It's somewhat compact and will work better than what's on the camera. The shock mount also comes ready for a hot shoe. Rode | VideoMic - Camera Mounted Shotgun Microphone | VIDEOMIC (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/363083-REG/Rode_VIDEOMIC_VideoMic_Camera_Mounted.html) From there the price roughly doubles and you wanna start looking toward sennheiser or maybe audio technica. I have used an azden which isn't too expensive, but they will look ridiculous on a little camera, some might even get in your shot, so watch the length. Can't help much with the wide angle telephoto stuff I'm afraid. Bruce Foreman September 29th, 2008, 02:14 AM Rode StereoVideoMic, at $250 not inexpensive but a super performer if positioned correctly. I put mine on a stand close to talent but just out of camera view, or suspend it from a boom mounted on the stand. Trick is to get any non shotgun mic as close to the talent as possible. It comes with a Deadcat windmuff which is one of the best wind noise killers. For on the HF100, the DM100 mike dedicated to the cam. Comes also with a Deadcat but is limited to on camera use. The Rode SVM is far more versatile. 37-52mm stepup ring (brings filter size up close to lens barrel size), 52mm multicoated UV filter, and 52mm wide angle aux lens. Reason for 52mm is best lens performance comes from central portions of the lens, 52mm aux lens causes the HF100 to "see" mostly through the center portion avoiding seeing as much of the distortion, chromatic aberration, and color fringing that can be introduced from the outer portions. Hama rectangular lens hood that clamps over the outer part of the 52mm filter. Blocks most stray light from hitting the filter or lens surface. Found listed at B&H. |
