View Full Version : A Canon 1D mkIII update any time soon?

Does anyone have any thoughts on when the Canon 1D mkIII will be updated? I'm going to need a new high speed SLR soon, and currently the Nikon D3's ISO advantage is a huge benefit over the 1D mkIII. I obviously would rather not ditch all my lenses to switch to Nikon, but unless there is a likely replacement for the 1D in the next 6 months, I probably will have to.

Any thoughts from those in the know?

Those who are "in the know" aren't telling, because that would violate NDAs and probably cost them their jobs. However, rumours abound. I'd keep an eye on PMA.

In the meantime, if you really need high ISOs at high frames-per-second, try renting the D3 and a few good lenses (14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 200-400, and all the long VR primes come to mind, among others).

Yeah, I'm pretty close to buying a D3... March for PMA is a long way to wait (I need it in a month or so).
