Was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction here, please:

I am considering a Jib and have found that the Australian-made Miller Pro Jib is a popular choice. But I have also found the Libec kit which is better value as it includes a tripod/dolly/bag and a mount that lets you use the camera UNDER the jib head for real ground-hugging shots.

Has anyone used a Libec, as it certainly seems better value than the Miller.

It will be for ENG style cameras such as the Sony DSR-570.

I am wondering the same thing, but will use the Jib for a fully rigged EX-3. What I find strange ist that I can't find a manufacturers site for the Libec. What is the name of the company making the Libec? Libec? Where are they based? All I can find is small photographs of the jib on various resellers sites.

I have used the Miller jib but not the Libec jib.
The weakest link in a jib setup are the legs.
I do have experience with Libec heads/tripods, and have to say the Libec legs are their weak link.

I personally own a Cobra Crane I+ and a Trovato Tote jib.

Libec is a Japanese company former known as Heiwa Seiki Kogyo Co.

I've have been renting a EZFX jib a few times and found it a pleasure to work with.

Much cheaper than the Miller. For the price of the Miller jib arm only, you'll have a complete EZFX jib system with tripod, weights and EZFX handle.

For the record you can find a lot on information about Libec tripods on the libec europe link in this thread (to Ianiro UK, Libec's UK importer).

Edit: Their server appears to be having problems when I just checked (22/02/2009).... but when it was (is?) working you could access all the on-line manuals, drawings and part numbers etc. of all their products.

You can also access all of this on their international website.
