View Full Version : I Am Dance
Jeff Nelson September 14th, 2008, 12:33 PM Inspired by Steven Dempsey and using a great music cue he found, I edited a little footage from something I shot this summer, with my daughter narrating:

Bill Busby September 14th, 2008, 03:34 PM Nice Jeff. I did think though that all the filter treatments should have been more minimal and subtle, or entirely left untouched, but that's just me :)
Jeff Nelson September 14th, 2008, 08:59 PM Hey Bill: I hear you on the filter overload, but since the buyers of the DVD this is on have seen the footage in another form on the same thing, I decided to play with it. Plus I put moves and zooms on the footage and with the slomo, and the filters help hide the artifacts and flicker. But I hear you, thanks!
Bill Grant September 15th, 2008, 02:12 PM I also noticed, Jeff, that it looked very noisy. Otherwise, I was curious about the purpose of this. You say it is just some "stuff you shot fo your daughter, but is it for a dance school etc? I think through the filters, it is probably pretty good. The filters, however, make it very hard to watch.

Jeff Nelson September 15th, 2008, 02:23 PM Hey Bill. Yeah, that's what I meant by artifacts in my previous post -- I'm sure a number of the shots were done at +12 db, and then as I said I made moves or bumped up/re-framed them, which only increases the size/visibility of the noise.
What this is from is I got a couple fellow A-1 owners and shot the performance of my kids' dance school, 3 cameras, and sold it to several hundred parents. What I posted here was something I put together and had my daughter narrate it.
So along with the performances, the DVD contains a "behind the scenes" short documentary, stills montage, as well as this little piece. For the audience the DVD is aimed at, they won't notice/mind the filters or whatever, they'll just enjoy seeing themselves or their friends with a cute poem. That's what I meant by "editing a little footage...."
Bill Grant September 15th, 2008, 06:16 PM Very cool. It's great that you know several A1 owners. Everyone I know have Sonys :) Thanks for sharing...
Bill
