The Voice has passed on:

"In a world..."

"From another time..."

And so on. Don LaFontaine, The Voice of more than 5,000 movie trailers, has left us at age 68.

Here's a nice tribute from Ain't It Cool News: Don LaFontaine :: Voiceover Master (http://www.donlafontaine.com/DLF2007/index.html)

This guy has been a fixture of film and television for my entire life (which I've always been proud to explain started on the same date as his) and he's just not the kind of person I ever imagined losing. Hal Douglas is the voice I first associated with the "in a world" voice-of-God material, but Don started the whole thing rolling, and was a prolific talent.

An amazingly generous man, he was kind enough to record the famous "Safety Not Guaranteed" time-travel classified ad, pro bono, when asked by a fan: YTMND - Don Lafontaine: Safety Not Guaranteed (http://lafontainesafety.ytmnd.com/)

I'll miss him.

Oddly enough he still has advertisements coming out. I wonder how much work of his has yet to air. I keep hearing his sprint phone one on hulu.
