View Full Version : Is Mic input supply +5v bias? Question for DIY Project Foucault Martial September 2nd, 2008, 04:56 AM Hi, Is someone knows if the HVR-HD1000 supply +5v bias for condencer mics ? Thanks Ville Honkonen September 7th, 2008, 11:01 AM I have beachtek xlr adapter, i have sonyhd1000 own mic and a sony PWD530 mic, when i try to connect pwd530 mic to the xlr adapter it not work. but when i connect a wireless mic to beachtek it work's so the default sonyhd1000 mic will work with battery?! but where is it.. Foucault Martial September 7th, 2008, 11:38 AM ------------ when i try to connect pwd530 mic to the xlr adapter it not work I think this mic need phantom power ------------ so the default sonyhd1000 mic will work with battery? I done some test on the HD1000's minijack plug, and it supply +3v. Ville Honkonen September 7th, 2008, 01:36 PM ------------ when i try to connect pwd530 mic to the xlr adapter it not work I think this mic need phantom power The hd1000 default mic is not a phantom mic ? Foucault Martial September 7th, 2008, 03:54 PM The hd1000 default mic is not a phantom mic ? No, it's not a phantom power mic, also it has only a minijack plug. Ed Sharpe December 16th, 2008, 01:47 AM ok so what is the bias.... and how good a microphone is this?... and what other microphones run off this cam without using batteries. thinking of getting this or the panasonic that records to sd cards that is a sholder mount. Foucault Martial December 16th, 2008, 03:00 AM Ed, could you explain a little bit more your post ... Thanks Ed Sharpe December 16th, 2008, 03:25 AM please re read I cleaned the spelling up! Ed, could you explain a little bit more your post ... Thanks Foucault Martial December 16th, 2008, 03:48 AM Ok, Maybe someone can explain better than me but I'll try my best. So, the Bias is only the fixed +3V on the Mic (Plug in Power) used for the original camcorder mic alim. To use another mic you can choice the mic you want. - Some needs Phantom Power (not provide on this camcorder), it's necessary to use external unit (ex : Beachtek DXA6 (http://www.beachtek.com/dxa6.html)) - some needs internal battery (ex : Rode NTG2 (http://uk.rodemic.com/microphone.php?product=NTG-2)) - Some works alone (ex : Shure SM58 (http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Products/WiredMicrophones/us_pro_SM58-CN_content)) The last thing is to convert from balanced to unbalanced for this you can use a Beachtek DXA2s (http://www.beachtek.com/dxa2s.html). thinking of getting this or the panasonic... Which Panasonic you speak about ? Ed Sharpe December 16th, 2008, 04:07 AM The panasonic is the... AG-HMC70 the sony is the Sony HVR-HD1000 Guess I need to decide in the next few hours... yes examine the audio on the panasonic also. The panasonic records to dshc cards and has xlrs but no focus ring. I wonder also which optical image stab, is better? sony's or panasonic? HVR- HD1000 is HDV AG-HMC70 is AVCHD They are not the same HDV vs AVCHD (http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2007/09/30/hdv-vs-avchd/). I wonder which is better at lower light. I probaby need to spend about 8k for a camera to do all I want plus be light sensitive but.... that is more than I have to spend! I wonder if sony vegas 8 handles the avchd format well too... I know it will work well with hdv. I'm sure you will do the best choice for your needs. I wonder how it interfaces..... the sony looks a little nasty at 12 lux in this comparison table... I wish it showed what the payy looked like... Ed Sharpe December 16th, 2008, 07:24 AM the xlrs on the panny this is great. i am trying to figure though just how good the 13 mbps record rate is on the avchd Martin Duffy December 22nd, 2008, 06:11 PM On the subject of audio I am very impressed by the limiter on Sony cameras. The FX1000 is very good again. Whilst I like Panasonic pictures better than Sony I have found that on the Pana DVC30 the audio limiter was woefull and since buying a FX1000 I am over the moon knowing audio will be much under control. A good limiter in a camera saves heaps in post for me. I film dance concerts and stage plays and the dynamic range is massive. No more "hot" spikes. Re XLR I am going to need an audio balun box that is small and good quality. I plugged a mini jack connector from a mixing desk into the FX1000 and had "buzz" appear after it was fine earlier in the night What brands are good? Beachtec seems popular. Ed Sharpe December 22nd, 2008, 08:21 PM for short runs to an xlr mult box is a b h photo adapt cord ok?? Ed Sharpe December 23rd, 2008, 02:58 AM shotgun microphone, aledgely the ECM-PS1 so is this a shotgun mic is it good? Ed Sharpe January 17th, 2009, 11:06 PM going from a mic out on a mult box at connference events to the 1/8 with a nice cord.... why buzz? the cord is a short run.... what is the impeadance issues here? help? want to plug int stuff but do not want a box under my camera. |
