I am leaning towards a backpack don't know which brand what are you guys using regards Robert John Knight September 1st, 2008, 11:33 PM Hi Robert - congrats on your new edition to the family! I modified my old VX2000 case (ripped out the foam surrounds) to make room for the Z7. Works nicely for me. Not for everyone. Amazon.com: Sony LCH-FXA Camcorder Carrying Hard Case for DCRVX2100, HDRFX1 & HDRFX7: Camera & Photo (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-LCH-FXA-Camcorder-Carrying-DCRVX2100/dp/B00068KY0C) Or search for LCH-FXA on EBay and there are a few ones cheaper there with photos of the interior setup. Heaps of room under the camera "tray" to hold batteries, MRU, wireless mics etc Robert Bec September 2nd, 2008, 02:51 AM I just ordered the Kata 207 backpack John Knight September 2nd, 2008, 02:55 AM Well that's curtains for your career mate... Robert Bec September 2nd, 2008, 03:05 AM Well that's curtains for your career mate... Why John what do you mean Jonathan Richards September 2nd, 2008, 10:20 AM Think that was probably a joke... John Knight September 2nd, 2008, 01:17 PM Think that was probably a joke... Shhhhh... don't tell him that... (he's from Australia)... would have kept him going for weeks! Jonathan Richards September 2nd, 2008, 01:32 PM Ahhh... the old Australia v New Zealand thing. Scott Caplan September 2nd, 2008, 09:29 PM I like my hard shell pelican 1560 case. I'll be waiting to hear what you think of the Kata 207. I need something for wilderness shoots. Robert Bec September 3rd, 2008, 12:12 AM I like my hard shell pelican 1560 case. I'll be waiting to hear what you think of the Kata 207. I need something for wilderness shoots. I will post info on the bag Robert Bec September 3rd, 2008, 12:14 AM Shhhhh... don't tell him that... (he's from Australia)... would have kept him going for weeks! Hey John deep down you would love to be an AUSSIE come on Sydney has got so many Kiwi's and they all call australia home:) Rodger Smith September 11th, 2008, 12:41 AM I just ordered the Kata 207 backpack The Kata 192 looks like a perfect fit for the camera dimension wise: Kata | CC-192 GDC HDV Case | KT CC-192 | B&H Photo Video (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=548348&is=REG) We rented an A1 (awwwww) and it came in one of these and the first thing we said was "we're getting one of these easy to carry cases" :o) Tom Valens September 11th, 2008, 01:51 PM I've been doing a bit of research lately looking for a bag to hold my Z7 which can double as a backpack for rugged location shooting and ideally can hold accessories and a laptop computer. My top contenders ended up being: Cinebags CB-25 ($175 at B&H). Or the older CB-22 (slightly smaller and less expensive). Small enough for airline carry-on. Petrol PCBP-3N ($270 at B&H). Larger than the Cinebags. Carry-on status unclear. Petrol PCTB-3 ($270 at B&H). Heavier, built-in wheels and trolley. Also uncertain carry-on status. For more info, but the model numbers in to the B&H site search box, or go to the Cinebags or Petrol sites. - Tom Valens Tamalpais Productions Robert Bec September 11th, 2008, 02:59 PM I ended up purchasing the Kata 207 backpack.Camera fits perfectly because i use as rhode mic. it is longer then the standed mic the Z7 comes with and fits just right. Heaps of room for batteries, charger, tapes, light, wireless mics plus it has extra storage around the outside of the bag. It is a large backpack but very comfortable. Rob |
