I've been playing with PP CS3 and my FX7E (PAL) on a friend's iMac. Am I right in my understanding of a tiny sentence I eventually found in the help files that you cannot export a 1920x1080 movie from PP? I've tried and tried all sorts of settings and keep getting 1440x1080, or other variations, but no anamorphic. Can't get 720 anamorphic either.

On trying Adobe Compressor as an alternative (from the export menu) it appears that from that option you CAN get 1920x1080 but it just sits there for ever and does nothing.

Is anybody successfully getting anywhere with PP on a Mac? I'm very impressed with some of the features I see in it, but it's worthless if it won't work with my camera! Should I just stay with my Final Cut?

This is the bit I foound in help, by the way: Note: You can not export a movie file into an HDV format file. You can, however, use the Adobe Media Encoder to export a movie into a high-definition MPEG-2 format file. Also, you can export an HDV sequence directly to tape on an HDV device (Windows only).

You can't export to an HDV mpeg file as 1920x1080 because by definition 1080i HDV is 1440x1080 with non-square pixels. You can however export to a 1920x1080 avi, mov, or wmv file, provided you select an appropriate codec (or uncompressed).

As you saw in the documentation, export to mpeg, wmv, etc is accomplished via the Media Encoder. To produce avi or mov, use the "Export" option on the main file menu and select your codec under "Video settings".

Not sure what you mean by 720 "anamorphic"? - 720 means 1280x720 with square pixels...
