Hi,

I am coming from a V1E where I always shot 50i and then converted to progessive in my NLE.

I am now thinking about shooting 25p on my Z7E. I shoot action sports so will be using 100-250 shutter speeds.

Is this a good idea? I would like the best picture possible.

Be wary of using too high shutter speeds as the image starts to strobe and get flickery. General rule even for action is shutter speed double frame rate, so 1/50th at 25P.

So 50i is more useful to me then.

I often shoot in bright sunny conditions... Maybe some additional ND filters would help..

Nope. As said 1/50th at 25P for action sports.

Sorry i should have been clearer in my response.

As I shoot in bright sunshine I am often forced into a high shutter speed. If I were to use more ND filters then I would be able to keep down the shutter speed to 1/50th allowing me to use 25p.

If i don't use additional ND filters shooting at 50i would allow me to use a shutter speed of 1/100th whereas 25p only allows 1/50th.

Yeah - remember doubling to 50i is just general rule... it would need testing on the specific subject. So I would experiment with 50/100/200/250/500 etc... with a mix of ND filters, edit all the way through to DVD and play on plasma/lcd to come up with a preferred look and make sure there are no bugbears.

That's the fun of playing with this new gear - often it's a matter of just trial and error. Good way to learn about the cameras capabilities though!
