I'm relatively new to lighting effects...but was wondering how a lot of minority report was lit. I really love the blue tones and overexposed bright whites in that movie. any suggestions?

i believe minority report went through a skip bleach process in the lab, which contributes a lot to the look you're talking about. in other words, the overall coolness of the film wasn't achieved strictly through lighting. the bleach bypass might be what you're admiring.

I believe the Looks Suite effects set in Magic Bullet v1.0 for AE has a 'skip bleach' preset. Maybe someone out there has used it and can report on the results.

The preset is called Bleach Bypass, although it will need some tinting for the blue. It might help if you blow out the hilights a bit either in post, but there is a component of that look that was done at the shooting stage and exposure.

I believe they did use the skip bleach printing technique. And the blueness was achieved in timing. Contrast because of the printing process and lighting. The glowly highlights were achieved by shooting through a dior net (i think it was dior) at the back of the lens.
