Is there any way of bypassing the Everio's HDD and recording directly to an external HDD?? I use FCP and I want to be able to hook up the Everio to my Mac via firewire and record straight to a HDD. What I do with my MiniDV cam is I have a MyBook HDD connected to my Mac via FireWire, then I connect my MiniDV to the MyBook's 2ND FireWire and it acts as a hub. Final Cut Pro recognizes both and I can do direct camera-to-HDD video recording. I want to be able to do this with my Everio and perhaps stay clear of the ~19min clip issue so I dont have breaks in my video. Any help with this? Thanks!

AS far as I know the Panasonic HVX200 does it and so do several other cameras which support firewire recording. The price is quite a bit more than the Everio.
The clipping issue is to do with file size not minute length. As far as I know that is one of the limitations of HDD addressing in that system. Did you test the SDHC format at all ?

YEa, ANY DV Tape cam can do it, thats what Im asking about HDD cam. Has anyone been able to bypass the HDD on these cams and record directly to FCP or any other program/HDD
