Hello. I read about "up rezzing" standard def footage to HD and "finishing in HD." Can someone please explain this to me? Does the image quality improve significantly?
I'm about to start editing a documentary I shot in SD, part of it 10 years ago on S-VHS (which was transferred to Beta SP a few years ago) and the rest on mini-dv recently. As I will be sending this to PBS for their consideration when finished, in order to increase the chances of a possible sale, would it behoove me to "up rez"? If so is "up rezzing" done to the footage prior to editing or after the edit is done?
I will be continuing yet another documentary this fall, hopefully on HD, money permitting. I have some footage shot last year on mini-dv, and if the rest is shot on HD, would up-rezzing the mini-dv footage to HD improve the quality and perhaps increase the chances of a sale to either PBS or a cable net such as Discovery, History, or National Geographic?
Thank you.
Bob
