View Full Version : should I set Wide Conversion to 'On'? (for Sony w.a. lens)

Hi again,
I have a Sony .8 wide-angle lens now, and I'm wondering if I should set the Wide Angle Conversion menu setting to 'On'. I'm trying it, both off and on, and it doesn't seem to affect the picture I see in my display.
If I should have it on... do I then have to take it Off every time I take the w.a. lens off?
thanks, Malcolm

The wide angle adapter will have a certain amount of chromatic aberration and when you turn on the wide angle conversion switch in the EX menu the camera will access a L.U.T. (look up table) and effectively bring the colours back into proper alignment. In other words, its the software correcting for the hardware.

Turn it on when you have the WA adapter on and turn off the function when the adapter is off the camera.

thanks again for the help, Don. I'll do this in the future (didn't do it on this last shoot... hope the shots are o.k.).
