Hello all,

My name is Joe Donaldson, but I guess that is pretty self explanatory due to the user name. I am 20 years old and a student (Biological Sciences/Nuclear Medicine) in Gainesville FL. I am going to school as a safety and trying to pursue a career as a videographer. Preferably working for a local news company while doing free lance on the side. Out side of filming/editing I ride BMX bikes and love cats. I am eager and willing to learn all I can about videography and editing.

Hey Joe! Welcome to the forums. You will find plenty of things to learn from everyone around here. You can even join in on the DVC or UWOL Challenges to help sharpen your skills. I am not too far from you down in Orlando FL but I visit Gainesville from time to time as I have family up there.

Sounds like you got your head on your shoulders, with the "safety" of a degree. Though it's outside the field of videography, it's never a bad thing. Here in Florida, things are slow all around, and not just from being out of season.

As for TV news, give it a shot, but I've noticed that local news, for the most part, is in a lot of turmoil around the country. Many friends in various markets are looking to get out, after working 5, 10, even 20 years in the biz.
