View Full Version : Old Video in FCS2 CRASHES!

I had some regular old DV footage that I captured way back when using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. They are .avi files.

I tried importing them into Final Cut 6.0x (whatever the latest update is) and it pops up with a warning that says the files are not "optimized for Final Cut. Try using media manager to convert to a different file type." Or something along those lines.

I'm just using the files for a quick edit since the tapes are long gone. Just about every time I drop a clip in the timeline and scrub through it, Final Cut crashes!

I tried this about 10 times before I went through and dumped the preferences and restarted my computer, but the footage continues to be unusable.

I tried Media Manager and converted all the files to ProRes DV HQ and moved everything into a new project. Trying to use those clips still causes crashing!

Anyone have any thoughts?

It seems that these old DV files should be the easiest thing to use. But I am wrong.
