I just bought a used fs4HD and it works fine, but for some reason I cant turn the thing off, the manual says to hold down the off button for 3 seconds. when I do that it does a series of beeps, then one long beep and appears to turn off but always just restarts..anyone know how to shut this thing off? thanks, John

sounds like you're holding down the 'ON' button. Off is the 'STOP' button.
holding the on button does a warm reboot

When you say "off button" are you reffering to the 'stop' button?

Follow Danny's lead. He's the guru on this one.
Press and hold the bottom button in centre of the lowermost ( I think ), not the top on on left you use to boot it up. Occasionally ours has hung unless the camera was cycled out of record and once or twice only, the camera had to be powered down before it would allow itself to be turned off. Pressing the top left button 6 secs for a stop is only as system reset as far as I can tell.
In most instances I think we were mismanaging it. Once familiar and comfortable with it, the problems seem to have gone away.

this was the reply from focus...will give it a try today..
1) Power REBOOT
a. With the Firestore powered OFF.
b. REMOVE the “battery” and connect the “AC Adaptor”.
c. Press and HOLD down the "ON" button for 15' seconds, then let it go.
d. The Firestore should be powering back up to the home screen.
---OR--
2) FACTORY RESET
a. With the Firestore powered OFF.
b. REMOVE the “battery” and connect the “AC Adaptor”.
c. Press and HOLD down the "ON” and “OFF” buttons for 15' seconds, then release just the “ON” Button.
d. Count to five (5) then release the “OFF” button.
e. The Firestore should be powering back up to the home screen.
(It takes the firestores settings back to the normal setup. This "will not" erase any current footage on the drive. You may have to re-do current update/upgrade version or just power the unit OFF and back ON. The version on the unit before the factory reset will appear again)
